The National Immigration Administration issued the “Guideline on Renewal and Reissuance of the Hong Kong and Macao Residents Entry and Exit Permits (“Home Return Permits”) on 28 September 2020. Starting from 10 October 2020, Hong Kong and Macao residents (“residents”) who stay in the Mainland China can apply for renewal and reissuance of Home Return Permits in the Mainland China if their Home Return Permits are expired, lost or damaged. Residents shall bring their valid identity cards and go to the relevant Mainland immigration departments of the public security authorities for the application. Details of other required documents for the application are stated in the guideline. Applicants can obtain the new Home Return Permits within 7 working days.
