On 25 August 2021, the Guangdong Administration for Market Regulation, the Guangdong Provincial Medical Products Administration, the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission and various authorities jointly issued the "Interim Regulations on the Administration for Importing Urgently Needed Clinical Drugs and Medical Devices from Hong Kong and Macao to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area of Guangdong Province". The "Interim Regulations" consist of 29 articles, which mainly clarify the specific conditions of the designated medical institutions, various details and requirements including the scope, approval process, responsibilities of various parties, risk control for importing urgently needed clinical drugs and medical devices from Hong Kong and Macao to the Mainland. The regulations took immediate effect and will be valid for 3 years.
