On 7 February 2022, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the National Energy Administration issued the “Reply on Approving the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to Start the Construction of a National Hub Node for the National Integrated Computing Power Network”. The reply letter agrees to start the construction of a national hub node for the national integrated computing power network in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and proposes to establish the Shaoguan data centre cluster, the boundary of which starts from the Shaoguan High-Tech Zone to support the development of large and super-large data centres, and the development includes building green and low-carbon data centres and improving network service quality.
