The People's Government of Huizhou Municipality (“the authorities”) issued the “Notice in relation to the “Measures for the Basic Social Medical Insurance in Huizhou Municipality”” (“the Notice”) on 28 December 2023. The authorities announced that these measures are formulated to further improve the establishment of the basic social medical insurance system in Huizhou Municipality and ensure the basic medical care of the people. Full-time students enrolled in various types of full-time general college (including those from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) in Huizhou Municipality, and unemployed residents, who holds residence permits for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residents, residing in Huizhou Municipality, are eligible to participate in the resident medical insurance. These measures shall be effective from 1 March 2024 and valid for 5 years.
