The People’s Government of Guangzhou Municipality, the People’s Bank of China, Guangdong Provincial Branch (“the authorities”) issued the “Notice in relation to Various Measures to Further Optimize Payment Services and Improve Payment Facilitation in Guangzhou Municipality” (“the Notice”) on 30 March 2024. The authorities announced to provide convenient mobile payment services for Hong Kong and Macao residents, and to transform Guangzhou Municipality into cross-municipal living sample for Hong Kong and Macao residents and facilitate the establishment of a high-quality living community in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
