The Ministry of Education in Guangzhou Municipal Tianhe District, the Guangzhou Municipal Tianhe District Human Resources and Social Security Bureau (“the authorities”) issued the “Notice in relation to Implementation Measures of the Points-based School Enrolment Work for Accompanying Children of Residents Coming to the Guangzhou Municipal Tianhe District” (“the Notice”) on 30 April 2024. The authorities announced that scores shall be assigned to residents coming to Guangzhou Municipality who apply for admission under the points-based system, where applicants shall be ranked based on the calculation derived from various factors. Applicants are placed in public schools or government purchased placement in private schools, by the Tianhe District Education Bureau, based on the score ranking of the applicants, their preferred choice of schools and the availability of actual placement. These Measures shall be effective from 2 May 2024 and valid until 31 December 2028.
