On 10 May 2024, the Guangzhou Municipal Administration for Market Regulation issued the “Action Plan for Upgrading Hoisting Equipment and Implementing a Trade-in Program for Consumer Goods in Guangzhou Municipality” (“the Plan”). The Plan proposed to strengthen the cooperation in setting up standards among the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, continuously expand the depth and breadth of “Greater Bay Area Standards”, and increase the research and manufacturing effects in developing “Greater Bay Area Standards” products in areas such as smart home appliances, daily consumer goods, and food products. In addition, the Plan also aimed to promote certification work and guide industrial upgrading and quality improvement among the Greater Bay Area.
