On 6 June 2024, the Ministry of Transport issued the “Opinions on Strengthening Planning and Construction of Coastal and Inland River Ports and Waterways in the New Era” (“the Opinions”). The Opinions support the service chains extension of shipping enterprises and the creation of world-class port clusters. The Opinions promote the enhancement of Hong Kong's status as an international shipping centre and the strengthening of the international shipping service functions of Guangzhou and Shenzhen in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The Opinions will be implemented from 6 June 2024.
