On 7 June 2024, the Zhuhai Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology Innovation issued the “Administrative Measures for the Co-construction of High-Level Industrial Technology Research Institutes in Zhuhai Municipality” (“the Measures”). The Measures proposed that the co-construction units of industrial research institutes should be equipped with strong capabilities in industrial technology development and transformation of research results. In addition, they shall be the world-class universities (Category A) or domestic and foreign universities within the top 500 in the QS University, The Times Higher Education World University (“THE”), US News or Shanghai Academic Ranking of World University in the past two years. Alternatively, the co-construction units could be domestic and foreign research institutions ranked top 200 in the Nature Index or technology companies listed under Fortune Global 500 in the past two years. The Measures will be implemented from 10 July 2024 and will be valid until 9 July 2029.
