The Guangzhou Municipal Medical Security Bureau, the Guangzhou Municipal Finance Bureau, and the Guangzhou Municipal Hygiene and Health Commission (“the authorities”) issued the “Notice in relation to the Scope and Standards for Outpatient Special Diseases Expenses Settled by the Pooling Fund of the Basic Medical Insurance for Employees and the Basic Medical Insurance Fund for Urban and Rural Residents in Guangzhou Municipality” (“the Notice”) on 1 July 2024. The authorities proposed that the outpatient special diseases are categorized into Type I and Type II. For Type I outpatient special diseases, the basic medical insurance fund for urban and rural residents will reimburse 85% of the expenses incurred at primary medical institutions or 65% of the expenses incurred at other medical institutions. The Notice is effective from 1 July 2024 and valid for 3 years.
