On 6 July 2024, the People’s Government of Guangzhou Municipality issued the “Implementation Plan for National Carbon Peaking Pilot (Guangzhou)” (“the Plan”). The Plan proposes the establishment of ‘one-ticket’ intermodal passenger transport service system in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (“GBA”), improvement of public transport, and formation of green and low-carbon modes of transport. The Plan promotes high-quality construction of an international science and technology innovation centre in GBA and supports industry enterprises to build green and low-carbon industrial innovation centres in collaboration with universities, research institutes and upstream and downstream enterprises. The Plan will be implemented from 6 July 2024.
