On 24 July 2024, the Science and Technology Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality issued the “Administrative Measures for Research and Development Programmes in Key Areas of Shenzhen Municipality” (“the Measures”). The Measures encourage the formation of "industry-academia-research-application" innovation consortia to jointly apply for funding. Institutions such as universities, research institutes, medical and healthcare organizations, enterprises, and social organizations within and outside (including Hong Kong and Macau) Shenzhen can serve as cooperative partners for the municipal key R&D plan projects and receive financial support from the municipal government. For the "Leader Board" type of projects, the funding for a single project will generally not exceed RMB30 million. For the "Demonstration" type of projects, the funding for a single project will generally not exceed RMB100 million. The Measures will be implemented from 24 July 2024 and will be valid for 5 years.
