The General Office of the State Council (“the authorities”) issued the “Guiding Opinions on Improving the Long-term Mechanism for Basic Medical Insurance Enrolment” (“the Opinions”) on 1 August 2024. The authorities proposed that starting from 2025, for individuals who have continuously participated in the resident medical insurance for 4 years, the maximum reimbursement limit for serious illness insurance will be increased for each additional year of continuous enrolment thereafter. The Opinions shall be effective from 1 August 2024.
