The National Healthcare Security Administration, the Ministry of Finance, and the State Taxation Administration (“the authorities”) issued the “Notice in relation to Ensuring the Implementation of Basic Medical Security for Urban and Rural Residents in 2024” (“the Guidelines”) on 19 August 2024. The authorities proposed to enhance the subsidy for residents’ medical insurance contributions. The financial subsidy and individual contributions will increase by RMB30 and RMB20 respectively compared to the year 2023, reaching a minimum of RMB670 for the financial subsidy and RMB400 for individual contributions per year. The Notice is effective from 19 August 2024.
