On 30 August 2024, the Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality issued the “Various Measures for Promoting High-Quality Development of the Internet Micro-Short Drama Industry in Shenzhen Municipality” (“the Measures”). The Measures encourage online micro-short drama enterprises to conduct business activities in Shenzhen. Those that meet the relevant criteria can enjoy supports, including interest subsidies on loans, insurance fees, and recognition as new business entities. Enterprises located in cultural industry parks at the municipal level and above can benefit from rental subsidies. The Measures also support the establishment of an online micro-short drama alliance, enhance cooperation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, and promote innovative development in the online micro-short drama industry. The Measures are effective from 1 September 2024 and will be valid for 2 years.
