On 9 October 2024, the General Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province issued the “Action Plan in relation to Further Promoting the High-Quality Development of the Biomedical Industry in Guangdong Province” (“the Plan”). To promote the supervisory innovative development of drug and medical device in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Plan proposes optimizing the approval process for clinical urgency drug and medical device products that have been established in the market of Hong Kong and Macao to expedite the progress of their clinical use and establishment in the market of Mainland China. The Plan shall be effective from 9 October 2024.
