The Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area indicates support for deepening coordinated innovation amongst Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, actively attracting and connecting global innovation resources, enhancing in-depth integration of industries, academia and research, and developing an international innovation and technology (I&T) hub. Moreover, the 14th Five-Year Plan has, for the first time, included the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Loop as one of the four major platforms of co-operation in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), which fully demonstrates the importance the Central Government attaches to the development of I&T in Hong Kong. Meanwhile, the development of the Greater Bay Area provides Hong Kong with the best platform to integrate into the nation’s I&T development.
