Some Hong Kong elderly persons choose to reside on the Mainland (including the Mainland cities of the Greater Bay Area) after considering their ties with the Mainland and personal circumstances. At present, the HKSAR Government provides assistance for Hong Kong elderly persons who choose to reside in the Mainland cities of the Greater Bay Area through different measures, including the provision of various portable welfare benefits and subsidised residential care services.
