Q&A

On request from Hong Kong residents or their relatives or friends, the HKSAR Government may provide information about lawyers in the Mainland. Besides, Hong Kong residents may call the free legal advisory service hotlines jointly operated by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong and the Mainland China Consultation Services Centre of the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions during office hours to seek advice on legal problems encountered in the Mainland or make appointments to meet duty lawyers in the Mainland.

Service hours of duty lawyers (by appointment; except on Mainland public holidays):
Tuesday: 2 pm to 6 pm

The HKSAR Government has published a booklet about Mainland’s laws and regulations most concerned by Hong Kong residents in general. The booklet is entitled “General information on the Mainland criminal laws and regulations relating to persons arrested or under detention”, and copies of which are freely obtainable from the HKSAR Government’s District Offices, Beijing Office, Hong Kong Economic and Trade Offices in Guangdong, Chengdu, Shanghai and Wuhan, and Immigration Department, as well as the Mainland China Consultation Services Centre of the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions (Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Huizhou and Fujian).
