To implement the “East in East out, West in West out” strategy for cross-boundary goods traffic, the HKSAR Government and Shenzhen Municipal Government commissioned the operation of Liangtang/Heung Yuen Wai Control Point in August 2020. The new control point greatly shortens the travelling time and fosters co-operation and development of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, eastern Guangdong and neighbouring provinces. At the same time, the Shenzhen Bay Control Point locating in the west of Hong Kong has also extended the operating hours of cargo clearance to 24 hours since December 2020.
