In order to further promote the connectivity of infrastructure in the Greater Bay Area, the governments of Hong Kong and Shenzhen have established the “Task Force for Hong Kong-Shenzhen Co-operation on Cross-Boundary Railway Infrastructure” (“Task Force”) to jointly develop the “GBA on the Rail”. The Task Force’s First Stage Study on Hong Kong-Shenzhen Western Rail Link (Hung Shui Kiu - Qianhai) was completed in end-2022. The Second Stage Study has commenced and is expected to be completed in mid-2024.
