Twelve types of statutory healthcare professionals (including doctors and nurses, etc.) who are registered to practise in Hong Kong may practise in the Mainland on a short-term basis for a maximum of three years, after which they may apply for an extension. Hong Kong permanent residents who have the legal right to practise medicine in Hong Kong are not required to sit for the National Qualification Examination for Medical Practitioners when they engage in short-term practice in the Mainland.
