Dongguan is located in the south-central part of Guangdong Province and on the east bank of the Pearl River estuary. It is a famous historical and cultural city, an important cradle of Lingnan culture, and a renowned centre of manufacturing industry, where a comprehensive manufacturing system covering numerous industries and products has been developed and its electronic and information industries are booming. In addition to developing itself into a centre of advanced manufacturing in the Greater Bay Area, Dongguan endeavours to augment the transformation of technological outcomes, deepen opening up and co-operation, and enhance services for quality living, in an effort to establish itself as a key node city of the Greater Bay Area.
